The Medicare & Social Security roadmap tool
The roadmap tool on the Tools page and the Quick Snapshot on the home page are provided by Lapis Insurance Solutions, LLC ("Lapis") on these terms.
- Estimates, not determinations. The tool applies published Medicare and Social Security rules and figures to the information entered. Only the Social Security Administration, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, state Medicaid agencies and insurance carriers make actual determinations of eligibility, dates, premiums, penalties and benefit amounts, and those may differ from the tool's estimates.
- Your responsibility. Results depend entirely on what is entered. Before acting on a date or amount, confirm it with Social Security (1-800-772-1213), Medicare (1-800-MEDICARE) or your State Health Insurance Assistance Program, all of which are free.
- Scope. The tool covers the situations described on its page. Anything outside them, such as benefits based on a former spouse's record, foreign work credits, or coverage through TRICARE, the VA or an Indian Health Service program, needs individual review.
- Figures and dates. Government figures are taken from official publications and checked on the date shown on the page. Figures for a year that has not been published are not used. Rules change; the official sources linked on the page control if they differ from the tool.
- Privacy. The tool runs entirely in your browser. What you enter is not sent to Lapis or anyone else, is not saved after you leave the page, and is not used for marketing. See the privacy policy.
- No account, no obligation. Using the tool never requires a name, contact details, an appointment or a quote request, and does not create a client relationship with Lapis.
- Availability. The tool is provided as is. Lapis may change, pause or remove it at any time and does not guarantee it will be available or free of errors.
- Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, Lapis and its agents are not liable for any loss, missed deadline, penalty or cost that results from relying on the tool instead of an official determination.
- Personal use. Results may be printed or copied for your own planning or shared with a family member or advisor. The tool, its design, its wording and its code may not be copied, republished, scraped or embedded elsewhere without written permission from Lapis.
